Music and other modern musings

The saga continues….Cut Copy and Fleetwood Mac, together again.

Anyone who has popped by here once in the last month or so is well aware of my love for Cut Copy and Fleetwood Mac, and that I was elated to discover that chance would permit me to see both in one weekend.

Well who knew that Cut Copy liked Fleetwood Mac?!?!?…and that Parisian remix master Lifelike would support this union? Whao!

Fleetwood hasn’t stopped thinking about tomorrow.

So last night’s gig was utterly amazing. Only one let down. They didn’t sing Everywhere but that was to be expected in view of Christie McVie’s absence. Nicks appropriately donned the Fleetwood famous top hat with a tambourine in hand and her golden locks still flowing along with her raspy voice while Buckingham effortlessly rocked out as he did 30-some years ago. Mick and John backed the two, and despite the show being vocally high jacked by Nicks and Buckingham, the two original band members reminded the audience that Fleetwood Mac is not two-man show.

Fleetwood Mac

I’ve been home less than 24 hours from my excursion to see Cut Copy in Toronto (which was amazing and I will update you on later), and I am now off to see Fleetwood Mac tonight! Christie McVie will not be playing so I wonder whether we will be blessed to hear smash hits like Don’t Stop and Everywhere – both my faves. Despite her absence, her former spouce John, and Stevie Nicks, Lindsay Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood are sure to bring back some fond childhood memories.

2nd best.

wal-mart-with-pride1As I understand it the weekend prior to Christmas is the biggest shopping day of the year and today, boxing day, is the second biggest, but probably the most dangerous. The big sales are frightening and do something to people comparable to being inflicted with an alien strain of rabies. I suggest as you pack your enviro-sacs with gifts to return you consider bringing a discreet weapon and stock your new Ipod Touch with some serious audio-distraction to keep you from being enraged and infected.
