Under the Sheets

Ellie Goulding is signed to Neon Gold Records, along with Penguin Prison and Marina & The Diamonds, with whom she will be performing with on a portion of her current European tour. I’m not sure who is opening for who but her performances across the England will also feature the awesome and lovely Little Boots. Anyhow, I was recently introduced to her and while I’m not totally floored by her mostly mellow pop sound, as some are, Under the Sheets is simply fantastic! I’d place the song somewhere between the grooves of a Twelves remix of a Lykke Li tune and the indie vibe of Regina Spektor. If you ask me, I think this tune is a prime base for a Fred Falke remix.

I love it

There is a whole lotta love to go around here. The track is lovable. I’ve really developed a love for Sneaky Sound System recently. And I straight up love Fred Falke. I love love.

There’s a lot that’s New In Town.

Little Boots album, Hands, will be released globally on June 9th. When Fred Falke dropped his mix of LB’s New In Town a couple of month back I knew we had another remix hit. I have to admit that I was expecting something from Van She Tech or maybe even Diplo. Despite their absence on this round of remixery, the Emil and Friends is one pleasent surprise. A1 Bassline is certianly no surprise. The guy is the best kind of whore the scene’s got right now.

Their going in for the Kill!

England’s electropop duo, La Roux, releases their second single today! Their first single Quicksand was released in late November 2008 on the French label, Kitsune, (which also represents the likes of Fred Falke, Crystal Castles, Cut Copy and so many other amazing electro talent), and was a smashing success. In for the kill has be well primed for its release in effect of the multiple remixes crafted following its leak a while back, including ones by Hostage, Skream and the Twelves. The rest of the album is sure to garner them huge success over the next year.

DFA 1979

I must admit, I never really recognized the high-level cool factor of Toronto’s dance-punk duo, Death from Above 1979, until relatively recently. In fact, it wasn’t until I heard the myriad of remixes pumped out in the last 3 years following Jesse and Sebastien’s blog-announced break-up that I recognized the versatility and scope of their sound. And, while I am riding the honesty bus, I should admit that it wasn’t until Jesse formed MSTRKFT with DFA 1979 producer, Alex Puodziukas or Al-P, that I really took a liking to them and the novel influence they held. Still, I am not a huge DFA fan. I do love Black History Month and Romantic Rights. And I especially love what French electro duo, Alan Braxe and Fred Falke have done to BHM.

What can I say? I am a sucker for remixes.

The french front-runner, Fred Falke

French house producer/Dj, Fred Falke, is truly a master in his own art. In his decade-long career he’s worked with big-wigs like Alan Braxe and Khris Menace, and never seems to let me down with his ability to renew über popular tracks, turning them into something completely novel for a second time around.

Many shades of the back of Ladyhawke’s van.

There is no doubt that Ladyhawke is as much a mega success as her other down-under mates (See Empire of the Sun below) – So much that it would appear that everyone had to get there hands on her and her track, Back of the Van. While the original still takes the gold on my heart, an unusual story for me, the Fred Falke and ddpesh are my other faves. Let me know which one(s) you prefer.
