The rumour mill’s a running…

So apparently the amazing voice but not always so brilliantly dressed Christina Aguilera is releasing a new album this coming April. The album is to be titled ‘Bionic’ and is reported to be a complete departure from her past work, though we can expect the recently subdued diva to deliver the R&B and pop vocals she was bread to deliver. The best part is, sources tell me that producers for the album include Sia, Ladytron, Goldfrapp, M.I.A., and Santogold! Ask yourself this: How much would you give to see all of these fine femmes grace the stage together?

The videos below are rumoured to be leaks of what’s to expect off the album, but some think they might actually be promos for Goldfrapp’s upcoming album.

Here’s a old Aguilera fave of mine,

Christina Aguilera – Dirrty (feat Redman)

And of course, as everyone should know, its nothing without the video:

And while we are talking about the rumour mill, what the F happened with this reported Justice fake?

Justice FAKE – Beginning of the End

Everytime a new wild electro tune is released its as if it sparks electro-nostalgia in all of us and the game of telephone around the school yard begins. We sit there with the song on repeat, praying for validation that this is it, this return of good production and neon-laced afterparties in France with Thomas Bangalter (ok that was a dream I had recently, but anyway). We react as if there was something we missed amidst the Jutice-balloo of a couple summers back or the Daft Punk-mania of the 90’s. Let us rest assured, those moments are ephemeral at best. Patience is sure to bring us something good. Sadly, Daft Punk’s recently released, Crash, isn’t going to be it.

New M.I.A.

M.I.A. is back with a new song and vid released via Twitter earlier today. The jam is a little down-tempo for what we’ve come to expect her but nevertheless a good preview of what’s to come.

All 4 da kidz

Tonight is the NORML Christmas bash, All 4 da kidz! The annul event which doubles as a fundraiser by collecting donations and lightly used Winter coats for a suit of local charities is quite possibly my third favorite day of the year. This year’s line-up includes M.I.A.‘s tour Dj, Million Dolla Mano, T.dot’s Keys N Krates, Dj Seven:30 and DL Incognito. The night will also feature local superstars, Dj Drastik and Illo, who composed the mix below just for tonight’s festivities. The mix is packed full of tweaked holiday faves mashed up with some oldies, hip-hop and bmore. Enjoy!

6 degrees of sibling sensations

This past August I was pumped for seeing A-Trak side by side M.I.A.‘s bestie, Rye-Rye, but the girl had to go and get prego and cancelled her remaining tour dates. As I pondered who would make a great sub for the act I naturally considered Kid Sister, aka Melisa Young, ironically, the elder sister of J2K, aka Josh Young, one half of Chicago based duo, Flosstradamus. Alas, A-Track, little brother of Dave 1, aka David Macklovitch, vocals and guitarist of MTL based electrofunk duo, Chromeo, dawned the stage alone. Anyone who has had the pleasure of seeing the MTL native turned international sensation and exclusive Kanye DJ, can attest to the fact that the night was nevertheless something to bewonder (Aside from the fact that there was no air conditioning in the subterranean hot-box). Still, the whole experience left me wondering when the heck we would see the likes of kid Sis again. Her collabs with Tittsworth (who’s recent mix is a little bit of disappointment, if i may use this opportunity to say so) and Loudmouth West offered the Illinois born lyricist critical acclaim and made her into a near instant star in the minds of hipsters and collar-poppers alike.

Well she’s back. This past Tuesday, too much anticipation, kid Sister released Ultraviolet. The album contains past jams like Pro Nails and Control, and opens with the recent single, Right Hand Hi. I’m not sure Right Hand Hi will live up to the successes of the aforementioned hits but it is sure going to get more that your ear-drums shaking.

Do the math…

…and you’ll understand why the sum of this track’s parts can’t not equal anything less than amazing.

Old news can be good news.

I’m a little late on this one but better late than never.

In the summer of 2007, I think most us were insanely excited in a dense cloud of disbelief to hear of Sam Spiegel (Dj Squeak E. Clean) and Dj Zegon‘s project N.A.S.A. – North America/South America. The appropriately titled project links the sounds and famed faces of the North and South to form a remarkable album of somewhat unimaginable collaborations; Tom Waits, M.I.A., George Clinton, Kanye, Lykke Li, Spank Rock, SantoGold, RZA, the YYY’s, Red Hot Chili Peppers and even Seu Jorge…Whao! If you’ve not heard the album, Spirit of Apollo, which dropped mid-February, I would highly recommend you do so now. Each track is like a 3-5 minute mental trip to Coachella.

Could there be a better combo than the one we have here?

N.A.S.A. – Gifted feat. Kanye West, Santogold, Lykke Li

FYI – Spiegel is reportedly working on a film detailing the N.A.S.A. project with older bother, Spike Jonze.

King of Bass

Canadian king of bass and modern dance hall, Ghislain Poirier, is playing at tonight’s edition of Disorganized. Undeniably a show not to be missed if you are in the hood…or can get there.

Here is some of his best mixes from my favorite album, Bounce le Remix. He’s recently released Vol. 3 though I believe these tracks are from the first edition.

Ghislain Poirier – Missy Elliott
Ghislain Poirier – M.I.A.
Ghislain Poirier – Vanilla Ice
Ghislain Poirier – Lady Soveriegn
Ghislain Poirier – Bon De Role

And here is something a little more recent featuring Mr Slaughter,

Bangin’ Besties.

My favorite besties are at it again! Rye Rye and M.I.A. first teamed up in September of 2008 on a remix of Busy Signal‘s Tic Toc. Tic Toc also played as the first release from M.I.A.’s label N.E.E.T of which Rye Rye was the second artist to be signed to following Afrikan Boy who M.I.A. had worked with on the brilliant track Hussel.

The hip-sisters are back with another jam, Bang, which is produced by Dj Blaqstarr.

New MIA Song

Despite my impeded ability to think clearly as a result of this lingering cold I have contracted, as I climbed into bed last night all stuffy nosed and teary eyed I realized I left out one of Death to the Throne‘s best sounds of yet from yesterday’s post.

Death to the Throne – New M.I.A. Song

Here is what DTTT had to say about this creation,

1. it’s made up of small bite sized chunks of three different MIA acapellas. i’m much too lazy to write “bucky dun gun+pull up the people+jimmy death to the throne remix”

2. i imagine (god forbid) that if MIA were to ever die, her record label would probably pump out regurgitated crap like this all day long i.e. tupac, biggie, etc…

3. i think it’ll be funny seeing people go ape shit over a post containing the words “new M.I.A. song.
